Product Rendering in Modo - From Start to Finish
Workflow Workflow Workflow
This tutorial takes you through a simple project from start to finish: from setting up your workspace, to modelling, shading and texturing, and finally to lighting and rendering. All the while the focus is on working efficiently and leveraging Modo’s amazing UI to its fullest.
The topics covered begin with setting up custom keyboard shortcuts to work efficiently in the viewport (and a set of very useful custom shortcuts is provided), setting up custom pie menus, and saving configs so that they persist when Modo is updated and can easily be migrated to other computers. You’ll never need to setup Modo from scratch again.
Then the training shows how to leverage the Workbench and the Tool Properties popovers so that you can work more efficiently in the viewport, with your favourite tools always within easy reach.
With that foundation in place the training then moves on to tackling a project from start to finish, using approaches that are quick and efficient and optimised to meet real-world deadlines.
Intricate details such as the ring-pull and embossed details are modelled using subdivision modelling techniques, then the metal material is textured with a brushed-metal shader created from scratch. The training then covers UV mapping, detailing, staging, lighting, rendering, and post-processing to walk you through the complete project. The condensation on the drinks can covers topics such as controlling replicator size and density with textures and controlling the direction of the drops with modifiers, giving you total control over the distribution of the condensation on the cans.
Particularly useful to beginners, the training will also offer insights to more experienced users looking to speed up their workflow in Modo.
